Chinese IPTV Subscribers Top Ten Million in Harbin

According to a Chinese media report, the Chinese IPTV (Internet Protocol Television) subscriber base for Heilongjiang Netcom, a subsidiary of China Netcom, has reached 101,600 in Harbin, Heihe, and Mudanjiang, as of December 25, 2006. Heilongjiang Netcom has been ranked first with a subscriber base of over 100,000, followed by Shanghai Telecom's over 60,000.
According to Chinabyte, Shaanxi Telecom has lately signed an IPTV deal with US-based UTStarcom, under which UTStarcom will construct an commercial IPTV platform for Shaanxi Telecom, which has previously selected Chinese ZTE to be the only IPTV equipment supplier.
